This
is a Turkish Beaulieu Oushak rug made in the 19th century. Oushak rugs
originate from the city of Usak, Turkey and use a particular family of
designs that consist of dyes that lean towards: cinnamons, terracotta
tints, gold, blues, greens, ivory, saffron and grays. This area has been
a major rug producer since the early Ottoman Empire and late 20th
century.
The
center of the rug is a medallion, which is surrounded by geometric
designs that mirror each other. The background of the rug is a
terracotta red that is contrasted by a rich navy blue bordered by a
floral motif.
